Emmy Noether was born on March 23, 1882 and died on April 14, 1935. She was born in Erlangen, Germany; and died in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. She attended the University of Erlangen, and taught University of Gottingen. Her father (Max Noether) was a math professor, and her brother (Fritz Noether) was also a mathematician. After she graduated she began to pursue a career in math. Emmy worked at the Mathematical Institution of Erlangen from 1908 - 1915, then she joined the math department at the University of Gottingen. Until 1933, when the Nazis took over Germany. They forbade her to teach, however she continued to secretly. She then moved to the U.S. and taught at the university of Bryn Mawr. She never was married or had children, but she loved her students like family. Noether never received pay because she was a woman and she faced sexism most of her life. Noether died from an infection after having a tumor removed.
